DMS Import - Transition Go-Live 28. February 2026

Danish Customs (Toldstyrelsen) has announced that DMS Import will go live on 28 February 2026 at the same date Danish Customs have also announced a service windows 28 February.

From this date:

  • All new import declarations must be submitted via DMS Import

  • The current Import System will close for new declarations

  • Ongoing declarations created before 28 February 2026 must be finalized in the old system and cannot be transferred to DMS Import

What this Means for you as a Customer

If you submit import declarations to Danish Customs through our system, the following applies:

After 28 February 2026

  • All new import declarations will automatically be submitted to DMS Import, our guides on how to create a H1 IMD

  • The legacy Import Classic System can no longer be used for new submissions

Before Go-Live

  • Any open declarations created in the old system must be completed before the transition

  • You should ensure your internal data and processes are ready for the new DMS data requirements

With the transition to DMS Import on 28 February 2026, we expect increased activity across the systems, including higher volumes of submissions, questions, and support requests at us.

We are fully prepared for this.

To ensure a smooth transition for our customers, we have prepared our support for this go live period

Our goal is to respond quickly and effectively should any issues arise during the transition period and the days immediately following go-live.

We recommend that customers also plan internal readiness and allow for slightly longer response times than usual during peak periods.

We are committed to supporting you through the transition and ensuring continued stable operations.

Key Changes in DMS Import

DMS Import is part of the EU-aligned system and introduces:

1. More Detailed Data Requirements

  • Additional mandatory data elements

  • Stricter validation rules

  • Increased focus on data quality and correctness

Incomplete or inconsistent data may result in rejection by Customs.

2. New Declaration Types

Previous declaration formats are replaced with new declarations types (e.g., H1–H6, I2, G4, etc.).

The correct declaration type and procedure codes must be selected when submitting.

See this link for more information about the new declaration types

3. Stronger System Validation

  • Validation of authorisation numbers

  • Certificate code controls

  • Procedure combinations

  • Tariff and customs value consistency

What you should do

To ensure a smooth transition:

  • Prepare your organisation

Make sure relevant staff are aware of:

  • New declaration types

  • Updated data requirements

  • Possible rejection scenarios
