What is NVIT?

Transit Procedure: NVIT is managed within the New Computerized Transit System (NCTS), the electronic platform used across Europe to manage the movement of goods between countries without paying duties until they reach their final destination.
Arrival Notifications: For NVIT shipments, arrival notifications can be sent without a GodsNr (goods number).
System Integration: In Emma CMS, NVIT shipments can be both started and stopped. The system must distinguish between Departure (DEP) and Arrival (ARR) statuses, even when they share the same Movement Reference Number (MRN).
Guarantee Calculation: There is no separate exemption from the guarantee requirements for NVIT goods. The guarantee is calculated based on the applicable duties and taxes in the country of departure and must cover any potential debt that may arise during the transit movement in another member country. Duties or taxes already paid in Norway do not reduce the required guarantee amount.
Value of Goods: The value of the goods should not be declared in the transit declaration, either at item level (House Consignment Item) or consignment level. The value must be provided to the carrier so that the potential debt and required guarantee amount can be calculated.
Commercial Invoice: A commercial invoice is not required for NVIT shipments.
